What is the structure of the Brickstone InfraLAB?

Brickstone InfraLAB is a focused incubation and acceleration programme aimed at building capacity for African Entrepreneurs involved in large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects in Africa. We see the need for an Accelerator Programme to fill the gap in the infrastructure space by helping first-time sponsors to accelerate the projects to a bankable state where investments can be sourced adequately.

Its consist of 3 phases

  1. Brickstone InfraLAB Foundation
  2. Brickstone InfraLAB Incubation
  3. Brickstone InfraLAB Buildout

What is the structure of the Brickstone InfraLAB Foundation program?

Brickstone InfraLAB Foundation is an Open Learning training program for Aspiring and Emerging Infraprenuers seeking to be part of the Brickstone InfraLAB (Brickstone Infrastructure Acceleration Programme).  The Brickstone InfraLAB Foundation is made up of these two paid (2) online Courses as stated below Project Finance Fundamentals for Infraprenuers (PFF) and Project Finance Implementation for Infraprenuers (PFI)

 

What benefits do you gain from participating in Brickstone InfraLAB Foundation?

Attending the two (2) training Programmes (Project Finance Fundamentals for Infraprenuers (PFF) and Project Finance Implementation for Infraprenuers (PFI)) provides a solid grasp of basic project finance awareness to agree with other project stakeholders and appreciate project finance principles that affect the value of their large scale projects.

These programmes aim to equip sponsors and investors with the tools to understand project development and financing life cycles. Our courses are designed to assist sponsors to develop an understanding of the importance of linking financial, commercial and planning issues in developing large infrastructure projects.

Upon conclusion of the programme participants would have a better ability to “own” their infra-pitch decks and discuss their projects with an improved knowledge of their deal structure as well as the project implementation plan.

Who should attend Project Finance Fundamentals for Infraprenuers (PFF) and Project Finance Implementation for Infraprenuers (PFI)?

I’m not from a finance background, should I take this project finance training?

Yes. If you don’t have any fundamental knowledge of finance or accounting but are passionate about Infrastructure in Africa and also want to make a transition into project development. This training will be of benefit if you want to learn project finance analysis as a skill to help your company.

This training is not developed to make you a finance analyst but the programme is developed from the point of view of a Project Sponsor Organization and how they can have a deeper insight into project development and closure.

Course Training FAQ

How do I Sign Up for a Course?

Go to brickstone.africa/infralab/courses and you would find a link to the online registration form is provided following the course description. You will need to complete the form and submit payment by credit card. You will receive an email acknowledgement when your registration is complete.

Are there any technical prerequisites?

  • Laptop/Computer (Mobile devices are not recommended).
  • Speakers or headphones
  • High-Speed Internet Connection
  • Be interested in Project Finance
  • Have a great interest in the development of infrastructure in Africa

How do I get access to the online course site?

A few days before the course is scheduled to begin, you will receive an email with your user-id, password, and instructions for accessing the course site. The course site will be available to you the morning of the day the course is scheduled to begin.

What if I can’t begin on the first day of class or have work interruptions during the class?

A major advantage of online learning is the flexibility it offers participants. Minor delays in participation will not be a problem. However, it is important to Join Weekly Case Discussion Sessions, which would happen weekly.

Do I have to be online at the same time as other class members and faculty?

No. Our course site is available to you 24/7. Participate at a time convenient to you during the class schedule.

Other Course based FAQ

How much time do I need to plan for studying each week?

You should plan for 6-8 hours for course activities, which may include demand videos, tests, assignments, etc.

What kind of acknowledgement will I receive if I complete a course successfully?

Course participants who complete the required activities will receive a course completion certificate from Brickstone Africa.

Will I lose access to the course site the day after the course ends?

No. You will be able to revisit the course site for 90 days after the class ends so that you can review readings, discussions forums, and other course resources.

Can I access the course site before the class is scheduled to begin?

No. The course site is being updated to accommodate all participants, some of whom may not register until just before the course begins. The course schedule is set up to allow adequate time for the completion of assigned activities during the dates allocated for the course.

How can I be sure I have completed all of the requirements to receive a certificate?

Each course has an activities checklist that participants can download and use to track their progress.

Do I have to attend live sessions?

Live sessions are not mandatory. If you are unable to attend the live session, you will be able to watch the replay. You can also ask your questions to the teachers in advance so that they can answer them during the session.
